A Mild Case of Equestriphobia (Fear of Horses)

I have bad luck with animals. I seem to get attacked by more dogs and cats and birds than your average zoo keeper. Like the time I was out for a jog in San Francisco and two dogs mistook me for a mailman and started biting and snapping at me and chased me until I was forced to jump on top of a car for safety--you know, bad luck with animals.

We were at Draper Park the other day strolling merrily along with Alex. The back of the park is adjacent to some horse properties with 7 - 8 horses. We've seen them before and picked grass to feed them, but Angie has always giggled about how apprehensive I was getting close to them. While feeding them grass they would always try to nibble a little too far. This time Angie said to me “see Eric they don’t nibble very hard” and she let the horse nibble on her hand. The horse must have thought she was handing out pixie stix or something because he bit down and wouldn’t let go of Angie’s finger. In pain and cursing the horses existence Angie yanked her finger from the death grip it was in. The horse bit down so hard it made her finger bleed. If there wasn’t a fence between us and the horse I think Mr. Ed would have been Mr. Dead.

And this is why I seem to have a small case of equestriphobia.

I guess that's what I get for sticking my fingers in a horse's mouth after just eating pizza (without washing my hands.) I survived, though, didn't I?
